One withdrawal follows another for the Australian Open. After Caroline Wozniacki's withdrawal was made official in the last few hours, two more top 100 players are forced to skip the first major of the season in Melbourne.
They are Barbora Krejcikova, world no. 10 and two-time Grand Slam winner, and Karolina Pliskova, world no. 41 and two-time Major finalist.
No official reason has yet been given for Krejcikova and Pliskova's absence from Melbourne.
Following the various withdrawals in recent hours, a number of players have entered the main draw directly, bypassing the qualifying rounds. These are Yuliia Starodubtseva and Rebecca Marino.
