Winner of the WTA 500 Brisbane against Polina Kudermetova, Aryna Sabalenka revealed her state of mind and the expectations placed in her, one of the favourites for victory at the Australian Open.
She says: "I try to concentrate on myself. I don't think about what Iga is doing or how many Grand Slams she's won, but I try to work hard every day and improve.
What I'd like most in the world is to finish my career and be able to look back with pride at what I've achieved.
I started the day badly, because I wasn't following the ideal game plan. I wasn't comfortable with the balls and asked for a racket to be strung at a higher tension. From there, everything improved.
I feel completely ready physically and mentally. Arriving at a Grand Slam with a title under my belt is important to approach it with confidence."
