Potapova announces her change of nationality... by copying another player's message!
Anastasia Potapova made headlines this week by announcing her change of sporting nationality: the 24-year-old player is turning the page on Russia to now represent Austria.
But beyond the surprise related to this decision, it is especially the statement accompanying this announcement that is making the rounds on social media.
Accused of copying the message of a former compatriot
Indeed, Potapova simply reused word for word the long text published by Daria Kasatkina earlier this year, when she emotionally announced her new Australian nationality.
The world's 51st-ranked player reportedly merely replaced "Australia" with "Austria." The matter even ended up reaching Kasatkina's ears, who reacted on X (formerly Twitter) with a simple skull emoji, as a comment.
