Qualifications ATP d’Indian Wells : Gaston seul survivant français
The Indian Wells qualifiers began for the men this Monday.
The number 1 seed, Mattia Bellucci, who had a strong tournament in Rotterdam, fell in the first round against Yosuke Watanuki, with a decisive score of 6-1, 6-2.
Pablo Carreno Busta narrowly defeated Zachary Svajda 1-6, 6-3, 7-6. He will face Alexis Galarneau in the final round.
On the French side, the results are poor. Out of the six French players entered, only one managed to qualify: Hugo Gaston, who defeated James Kent Trotter.
Théo Papalamis, who received a wild-card, delivered a strong performance against Mikhail Kukushkin, but it wasn’t enough as he lost 6-4, 6-7, 7-5.
Arthur Cazaux lost to Galarneau, Mannarino continued his poor form and lost to Li Tu, and Constant Lestienne and Terence Atmane fell to Adam Walton and James Duckworth, respectively.
