Rumor confirmed: Cornet to retire after Roland Garros!
As we reported earlier today (see related article), Alizé Cornet is set to retire. Indeed, she has just made official an announcement that seemed already made: she will play her last professional tournament in Paris in less than a month's time.
After 17 seasons of loyal service, the Frenchwoman "simply feels it's time" and "doesn't want to be pushed towards the exit". A feisty and feisty player, Cornet will leave some fond memories for tennis fans, including seven second weeks at Grand Slam tournaments.
For her final match, it's only logical that she should choose Court Philippe Chatrier, which is sure to pay tribute to the French champion.
