Ruud accroché mais qualifié pour le 3e tour à Roland Garros.

Le Norvégien, n°4 mondial et finaliste sortant, a maîtrisé les 2 premières manches avant de se faire surprendre par Zeppieri en fin de 3e. Mais il a ensuite su serrer le jeu pour se qualifier sans trop de frayeurs.
