Ruud had the traditional dip in the pool in Barcelona!
Casper Ruud won the 2024 edition of the Barcelona tournament (ATP 500) on Sunday, the biggest title of his career. The Norwegian brilliantly overcame Stefanos Tsitsipas in the final (7-5, 6-3), avenging his loss in Monte-Carlo a week earlier.
To celebrate this success, Ruud had to follow Catalan custom. Since 1991 (see our article on this subject), the winner of the tournament has jumped into the pool of the prestigious Barcelona club in the company of the ball boys and girls. The Norwegian therefore complied with the tradition with the greatest of pleasure (see video below).
Casper Ruud: "There's something special about it, that's for sure. Like an extra prize for being able to win. It's something you hope to do on Sunday in Barcelona."
