For a long time, most specialists were in the habit of referring to the young players born in the 90s as members of the "next gen". A generation of players destined to take over from the "big three".
Yet this generation currently boasts just two Grand Slam titles in 21 attempts (Medvedev and Thiem).
Questioned on the subject, Ruud explained: "Obviously, we can't wait for things to be served up to us, but the big three (Djokovic, Nadal, Federer) have been extremely good.
We've played in 21 finals and only won two, so we only have ourselves to blame.
There was a lot of talk about Zverev, Tsitsipas and Medvedev when they arrived, we thought they were going to make a change and topple Federer, Nadal and Djokovic, but they didn't."
