From January 11 to 17, the ATP 250 tournament in Auckland is holding its annual event. Last year, it was Gaël Monfils who won the tournament. A strong field is expected in New Zealand in any case. While Ben Shelton had already been confirmed by the organization several weeks ago, a second top 15 player is expected in Oceania during the first month of the 2026 season, and it is Casper Ruud.

Ruud will play the United Cup and Auckland before heading to Melbourne

The Norwegian, currently ranked 12th in the world, should therefore be part of the action. Before going to Auckland, he will compete in the United Cup with his country: "It's a very good tournament. You don't have many opportunities to go to New Zealand. We are already in the pre-season period, I will do my best to improve certain aspects of my game.

My goal for 2026 is to return to the top 10 and qualify for the ATP Finals in Turin," Ruud, aged 26, notably stated for the tournament's website. For now, Shelton, Ruud, Mensik, and the defending champion Monfils, who will play this tournament for the last time in his career, have been confirmed among the participants.
