Ruud won't be attending Nadal's farewell in Málaga
It's a bit of a surprise.
Although Casper Ruud is known to be very close to Rafael Nadal, the Norwegian recently confided that he would not be making the trip to Málaga to attend Rafael Nadal's farewell to professional tennis at the Davis Cup finals.
Asked about this in a press conference following his victory over Carlos Alcaraz in his first group match at the year-end Masters in Turin (6-1, 7-5), Ruud declared: "I won't be going. I've played and seen enough tennis this year, so... I'll probably watch it on TV, but hopefully on a beach, in the peace and quiet, just relaxed (smile).
I think it'll be a good end for him. It will be sad and there will obviously be tears. As a big fan myself, I hope they go through to the final and that you can see him play for at least a few more days. I hope he gets the retirement he deserves."
