Rybakina qualifies for the WTA Finals by beating Mboko in Tokyo
The race for the WTA Finals is now over. While the final spot was being contested between Elena Rybakina and Mirra Andreeva, it is ultimately the Kazakh player who secures the precious ticket.
The Russian did not have her fate in her own hands. Unfortunately for her, she could not travel to the Tokyo tournament to defend her chances due to a visa issue.
Rybakina only needed to win her first two rounds in the Japanese capital to secure her place at the WTA Finals.
Thanks to her victory over Victoria Mboko with a score of 6-3, 7-6, it is now done. She will face Linda Noskova in the semi-finals.
