Sabalenka on transgender women in tennis: "I don't agree with this kind of thing in sports"
On December 28th, world number one Aryna Sabalenka will face Nick Kyrgios in a "Battle of the Sexes" exhibition match in Dubai. During a promotional interview for the event with journalist Piers Morgan on television, the Belarusian player was asked about the possible admission of transgender women in tennis. The US Open winner answered the question briefly but sharply.
Sabalenka opposes the arrival of transgender women on the WTA tour
"It's a delicate question. I have nothing against them. But I feel like they still have a huge advantage over women and I think it's not fair for women to actually face biological men.
It's not fair. A woman has worked her whole life to reach her limits, and then she has to face a man, who is biologically much stronger. I don't agree with this kind of thing in sports," Sabalenka stated, according to comments reported by L'Équipe.
