Issu des qualifs et tombeur de Medvedev au 1er tour, le Brésilien a eu des occasions, dont des balles de 2 sets 0, mais il n'a pas su les saisir. Il a fini par céder physiquement face au Japonais qui a bien su faire le dos rond.
