Sinner after Čilić: "I'm sometimes slow on serve, but I work on it every day"
Following his victory against Marin Čilić (6-2, 6-2) in the first round in Beijing, Jannik Sinner spoke to the ATP.
Facing a former Grand Slam champion, the Italian delivered a solid, almost clinical performance before opening up about his current mindset:
"In the early rounds, you try to focus as much as possible, you have to find your rhythm and timing, while also assessing the playing conditions. I tried to prepare as well as possible, I arrived here very early to get used to the conditions. I'm happy I was able to produce this performance, Čilić is a top-level player."
With his usual calm, the world number two also discussed the work being done to improve his serve:
"I'm thinking a lot about my serve at the moment, I'm sometimes a bit slow, but I hope it will become more and more automatic. I try to vary and change things up well, but everyone does that. I'm happy to be able to work and have a great team by my side, we keep pushing."
