Sinner and Zverev can qualify as early as today: Wednesday's various scenarios at the ATP Finals
Jannik Sinner and Alexander Zverev, who face off this Wednesday evening in Turin, can officially secure their place in the semifinals of the ATP Finals in the coming hours.
Currently, no player is officially qualified for the semifinals of the 2025 ATP Finals. While the Jimmy Connors Group has already seen its first two matchdays played, the Björn Borg Group is on track this Wednesday for the second day of round-robin play.
Ben Shelton will face Félix Auger-Aliassime in the afternoon, before the clash between Jannik Sinner and Alexander Zverev in the evening. Furthermore, depending on the previous result, both of the latter can qualify for the semifinals as early as this Wednesday.
Indeed, two scenarios would send Sinner to the semifinals even before the final group match on Friday: a victory against Zverev combined with a win for Auger-Aliassime over Shelton a few hours earlier. The Italian will also be qualified today if he beats the German in straight sets and the American defeats the Canadian in three sets.
For his part, Zverev can also hope for a semifinal qualification, but he will need to beat Sinner in Turin to do so. If he manages to overcome the world number 2 and Shelton beats Auger-Aliassime, the two-time Masters champion (2018 and 2021) will secure his place in the final four. He will also be in the semifinals in the coming hours if he manages to beat Sinner in straight sets, and if Auger-Aliassime beats Shelton in three sets.
