"Sinner-Musetti is no longer just a match anticipated by Italians, but also by Americans," says Angelo Binaghi
The historic president of Italian tennis (since 2001), Angelo Binaghi, commented on the performances of his players on the professional circuit.
In an interview shared by Tennis World Italia, the 65-year-old emphasized the progress of Italian tennis, using the Sinner-Musetti quarterfinal matchup at the US Open as an example.
"Unfortunately, we are victims of our own success, in the sense that the match between Sinner and Musetti is not only the most anticipated match by Italians, but also by Americans. It is considered one of the most entertaining matches of the entire tournament, so the Americans have scheduled it for prime time rather than the afternoon."
For reference, five Italian players are in the top 50, with two in the top 10: Sinner, Musetti, Cobolli, Darderi, Sonego.
