Sinner on his weak points: "I have more trouble defending. I still don't know how to play well at the net".
Interviewed by Australian magazine Esquire, Jannik Sinner was asked about his weak points.
The Italian replied: "In the US Open final, I didn't serve well. That can happen. But it's a shot where there's a lot of room for improvement.
I'm convinced that, no matter how hard you try, you always have bad days. But it's important to be able to vary your shots, to have more confidence at net, to work on your volley and to have a different feel for the ball.
If I had to describe my style to someone unfamiliar with tennis, I'd say it's a mixture of solidity and aggressiveness. I find it harder to defend.
In fact, I try not to defend. My tennis is versatile, but I still don't know how to play well at the net.
One player who has helped me improve a lot is Medvedev. I'd never done a serve-volley, and he forced me to practice that to try and beat him. Against certain players, I have to do more long backhands.
In tennis, you learn from your relationship with your opponent. The real question for the player is: how do you get into your opponent's head? If you can guess the answer, things change in the match."
