Sinner reflects on 2025: "I consider this season to have been extraordinary"
Jannik Sinner reviewed his season after qualifying for the final of the Vienna tournament at the expense of Alex De Minaur.
World number 2, Sinner qualified for his eighth final of the season at the ATP 500 in Vienna. The Italian defeated De Minaur for the twelfth time in as many meetings on the main tour.
In a press conference after his victory, Sinner reviewed his 2025 year, which saw him win three titles (Australian Open, Wimbledon, Beijing) with perhaps a fourth to come this Sunday against Alexander Zverev, after notably missing three months of competition between February and May due to a suspension.
"This season has been special. I took a three-month break and couldn't play any major tournaments. In the end, I played relatively few tournaments, but I still played a lot of matches, which was exactly what I needed.
Regardless, I consider this season to have been extraordinary; I am very satisfied with my performances. Now, it's important for me to manage the end of the season well, and then to resume in the best possible way next year.
Darren (Cahill) has given me a lot, and I am grateful to him. We will see what we do together; he wasn't just a coach for me, but much more than that. However, he is already 60 and has held this position for a long time, so we will see what we can do.
Simone (Vagnozzi) and I haven't yet discussed who the second coach could be, but it's probably necessary, because it's important for Simone to have some free time. We will discuss it and then make a decision calmly," he stated to Punto de Break.
