Dans un match un peu décousu et malgré un trou d'air dans le 2e set, l'Italien de 22 ans a bien maîtrisé le Suisse, de 16 ans son aîné, qui a affiché un très bon niveau par passages. Il défiera Zverev ou Dimitrov en huitièmes.
