Sinner's Unique Wimbledon Final Prep: No Superstition, Just Football and Relaxation
Jannik Sinner breaks the mold ahead of his Wimbledon final: no superstitions, no rigid rituals—just calm, soccer, and time with loved ones. A rare mindset for a Grand Slam finalist.
After his victory this Friday against Novak Djokovic, Jannik Sinner revealed how he is preparing for the final ahead against Alexander Zverev.
Far from superstitious rituals, the world No.1 displays disconcerting serenity, preferring to enjoy the present moment and the FIFA World Cup.
No Room for Superstition
When asked if he has an unvarying ritual or particular superstition before playing a Grand Slam final, Jannik Sinner dismisses the idea with a wave of his hand. For the Italian, simplicity is the watchword:
"No, no superstition at all. I am a very normal person. I like to spend time with my team and friends."
Between Football and Relaxation
During the World Cup period, the finalist makes the most of his free time to take his mind off things:
"The World Cup is happening right now. I think England plays tomorrow... I really enjoy watching football at the moment."
As for the match-day schedule, Sinner relies on a relaxed approach: "The final is scheduled around 4 p.m., in the late afternoon. So we can sleep a little longer. I am very relaxed. I don't have any habits that I repeat over and over."
'Enjoying the Process'
More than meticulous preparation, it is the state of mind that matters for the champion:
"I like to enjoy the present moment. I know how rare these days are. A Grand Slam final is difficult to reach and to win. You have to savor the moment and the entire process that leads to it."
