Small advantage for Alcaraz before challenging Medvedev at Wimbledon (4-2)

It wasn't the semi-final clash everyone was expecting. Indeed, the reunion between Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz will not take place, as Daniil Medvedev knocked out the Italian in the quarter-finals, earning the right to challenge the defending champion this Friday.
This match will be the 7th instalment in this rivalry, and so far the advantage is with Alcaraz, who has already won 4 times.
In Grand Slam matches, the two men have met three times, with the older player winning twice. The current world No. 5 won at Wimbledon 2021 (6-4, 6-1, 6-2) and last year at the US Open (7-6, 6-1, 3-6, 6-3). Conversely, the Spaniard dominated proceedings on his way to the Wimbledon title last year (6-3, 6-3, 6-3).
Lastly, recent encounters have tended to favor the 21-year-old, who won his most recent matches fairly comfortably, whether at the ATP Finals in 2023 (6-4, 6-4) or at Indian Wells this year (7-6, 6-1).
So, although Medvedev has sometimes found the tactical keys needed to trouble the former world number 1, it seems that the psychological ascendancy is more on the Spanish side.
In any case, see you on Friday, no later than 2.30pm, to find out the verdict on the court!
