Someone like Ivanisevic could offer him a fresh perspective," says Stubbs about Medvedev's poor results
Daniil Medvedev is having a tough 2025 season, marked by early exits in major tournaments, like his loss to Adam Walton in Cincinnati.
Lacking confidence and with a game that seems to be declining, the Russian is searching for solutions before the US Open begins. On her podcast, former player Rennae Stubbs suggested a coaching change could help Medvedev turn things around:
"I don’t know (what he needs)! A break or a coaching change, even though I love Gilles Cervara. They’ve been together for a very, very long time and have achieved a lot together, but maybe Goran Ivanisevic is available.
The partnership with Tsitsipas didn’t work out, nor did the one with Rybakina. He might be an explosive personality, but he’s also worked with great players. Someone like that could come in and offer a new perspective. It’s not that his current coach can’t do it, but sometimes you need a fresh outlook.
