Stats - Does tennis still know how to stop?
The calendars of professional tennis players continue to lengthen, year after year. To an already extremely busy 11-month ATP/WTA season, we can now add the multiplication of exhibition events increasingly appreciated by the world's best players.
If the money generated by our sport is skyrocketing, so too is the risk of injury or psychological overdose. A telling statistic illustrates the scale of the problem. In 2024, the calendar has been so full that only 4 days, 7 hours and 31 minutes separate the last point played in official competition in 2024 (Masters Next Gen) from the first point played for 2025 (United Cup).
The question is: is it still possible for a top-level tennis player to enjoy a real break?
