Elina Svitolina didn't linger long on the grass of Court 2 at Wimbledon on Monday. The Ukrainian, ranked 21st in the world, gave China's Xinyu Wang, ranked 42nd in the world, a real tennis lesson, hitting 21 winners against just 10 unforced errors.
She won in 55 minutes and two sets (6-2, 6-1), winning the last 5 games of the match.
Svitolina will now play in the quarter-finals for the third time in her career in the English capital. Both in 2019 and last year (2023), she reached the semi-finals.
However, she will have her work cut out to reach the last four again this year, as she will face Elena Rybakina in the quarters.
