"The ranking is the true reflection of my work during the season," says Sinner

The ranking is the true reflection of my work during the season, says Sinner

World No. 1 since June 2024, Jannik Sinner begins his 54th consecutive week atop the ATP rankings. The Italian has surpassed Novak Djokovic and now holds the fourth-longest reign since the ATP rankings began, trailing only Roger Federer (237 consecutive weeks at the top), Jimmy Connors (160 weeks), and Lleyton Hewitt (75 weeks).

Currently competing in Halle, Sinner knows this streak will continue at least until the end of Wimbledon, a tournament where he reached the quarterfinals last year. Speaking to the official ATP website, the three-time Grand Slam champion reflected on his current situation.

"It’s a huge honor to be part of this group, but it doesn’t stop me from being myself. I want to keep writing my own story, and the only thing that matters to me is becoming a better tennis player every day.

I believe the ranking truly reflects my work during the season. I’ve had very strong results, I’ve been consistent, and I hope to keep it that way.
I never thought I’d be in this position or stay at No. 1 for so long.

It’s incredible to see myself in this situation—so much has changed in such a short time. Now, I know my potential, and I believe I can achieve great things and have a lot of success if I play well.

I’m really enjoying this No. 1 spot, but as I’ve said before, what matters to me is feeling like I’m improving," Sinner said before facing Alexander Bublik this Thursday.
