The tears of Keys, devastated at Wimbledon
Madison Keys was inconsolable as she left the Centre Court lawn. Facing Jasmine Paolini, she was very close to qualifying for the quarter-finals before being stopped by a left thigh injury (6-3, 6-7, 5-5).
The American seemed to have definitively got the better of the Italian, leading 5-2 double break in the 3rd set, before injuring herself on a shot. She then tried to continue to close out the match, but was no longer able to play at a sufficiently high level.
After losing her second break lead (5-5), she finally gave up in tears (see videos below).
