There have been a few years where no left-handers were in the Top 10," says Zverev
During a press conference at the ATP Finals, Alexander Zverev spoke about left-handers in tennis. There are currently two left-handers in the Top 10: Ben Shelton and Jack Draper.
The German states: "I think left-handers are always difficult to play against. When Rafa was playing, I probably didn't have those kinds of statistics. There have been a few years where no high-level left-hander was in the top 10.
Now, of course, there is Draper, Ben Shelton, and also Humbert, who is playing incredibly well. There are good left-handers again. Learner Tien is also playing very well. So there are some very big tennis players.
I grew up with a left-hander, my brother, and I trained with him my whole life. If we're talking about a typical left-hander, he definitely was one: his serve, his slices, his playing style. I got used to it. Maybe that helps me now.
