Tsitsipas Delivers Solid Performance in Doha, Defeating Medvedev for First Win Since 2022

Stefanos Tsitsipas has secured a significant victory.

Struggling for many months, the Greek player regained form in Doha with a win over Daniil Medvedev in the second round (6-3, 6-4).

Aggressive (27 winners), the three-time Grand Slam finalist also relied on an effective first serve (80% success rate) to overcome the former world No. 1.

Additionally, he showcased exceptional composure today by converting no fewer than six break points out of nine.

First Quarterfinal in Almost a Year

Tsitsipas had not reached a quarterfinal since his match against Arthur Fils in Barcelona in April 2025 (defeat).

Moreover, he was on a three-match losing streak against the Russian, with his last victory dating back to late 2022 (ATP Finals).

For a spot in the semifinals, he will now have to beat the winner of the match between Rublev and Marozsan.

There are a group of players who feel the need to win and spend a bunch of money to add boosts to their predictions. That is ok if they have it to spend. Many of us do not.

I feel these should have their own group(s). An extra 4-6-8 points makes a difference in a week. I don't want to play in unfair rules.
