The first round is almost over in Paris. Indeed, this Tuesday sees the final duels of the first round. At the end of the third day, only 64 men and 64 women will be dreaming of winning the French Open (down from 128 at the start of the tournament).

Among the matches on the programme are Djokovic's opener against Herbert, Ruud's against Meligeni Alves, Sabalenka's against Erika Andreeva, Rybakina's against Minnen, Rune's against Evans, De Minaur's against Michelsen, Fritz's against Coria and Keys' against Zarazua.

On the French side, a number of French players will be taking to the courts, as Cornet will be playing her last match at Roland-Garros, against Zheng (world no. 7). In addition, Cazaux will face Etcheverry, Mladenovic will take on Martic, Mpetshi Perricard will try to follow up against Goffin, Barrere will challenge Bublik, Mannarino will play Zeppieri, Rinderknech will face Walton and Lestienne will play Carballes Baena.

Last but not least, there are a number of interesting first rounds to follow, including Carreno Busta's comeback after almost a year without playing against Navone, the duel between Borges (47th) and Machac (34th), the 100% Spanish clash between Munar and Bautista Agut, Sara Errani's possible last match and the duel of the future between Cobolli and Medjedovic.

As we move to the end of this month and also closing out the year I am wishing all of those following me a Merry Christmas and a Happy/Healthy New Year.

Let's make that wish for all 2000 plus players hoping for 5 wins each day. Hoping ŵhen we open the results page to see all green, and no red. And especially NO CANCELED matches.

From me and my rotti JAZ, I bid you all good night, and see you in...

why did tennis tonic void predictions on the match between Chwalinska and Huergo at the Quito tournament? The match was played to completion and on time. If TT feels the match is one sided, and of course it was, then don't put it up for prediction. This is getting irritating.

The finals are here, and we scramble for the best finish. I've been chasing "King" all year and I was able to shrink the spread a little. Skelp is also closing the gap.

Seasons best to all the regulars in our league.

Will you all be back in the new year.?

Steffi Graf completed a Golden Slam (not just a career Grand Slam) when she was 19. She is the only person to accomplish that, winning the four majors plus Olympic gold the same calendar year.
