The UTS Hong Kong is currently taking place. For the occasion, Richard Gasquet, who ended his professional career after Roland-Garros, came out of retirement for the second time.

The player from Béziers had already competed in the Hopman Cup with Chloé Paquet during the summer, and the 39-year-old man replaced Jakub Mensik, who was injured in the knee in Shanghai, for this event. Playing under the nickname "The Virtuoso," the Frenchman was nevertheless defeated in the quarterfinals by Shang Juncheng (12-15, 18-10, 17-12, 13-11). The Chinese player thus advances to the final four.

Another French player in the competition, Adrian Mannarino. "Manna" was eliminated by Francisco Cerundolo in sudden death, despite leading two quarters to zero (9-16, 8-16, 16-13, 11-10, 2-1).

As a reminder, in the event of a decisive fifth quarter, the first player to win two consecutive points takes the match. Thus, the four semifinalists are known: Shang Juncheng, Francisco Cerundolo, Andrey Rublev, and Jenson Brooksby, and they will compete for the title on Wednesday.

Brooksby, who replaced De Minaur at the last minute and defeated Zhang Zhizhen, will face Shang, while Cerundolo and Rublev (who defeated Coleman Wong) will compete for the second spot in the final, which will take place immediately after the ranking matches.

Despite top-10 ATP rankings and consistent excellence, Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, Gaël Monfils, Richard Gasquet, and Gilles Simon never claimed a Grand Slam title, enduring mockery from French media amid Big 3 dominance. A deep dive into a talented generation defined by sky-high expectations and brutal competition.

As much as I love watching Alcaraz at his best, I'd love to see Alex taking this, he's such a tryer, and getting married and his humour and humility...

Favoritism?

Last year: Sinner seed 1, the organizers schedule Alcaraz on day 1, Sinner on day 2.

This year: Alcaraz seed 1, the organizers schedule Alcaraz on day 1, Sinner on day 3.

That means: 7 matches in 15 days for Alcaraz, 7 in 13 days for Sinner; and no rest day for Sinner between quarter and semis, 1 full day rest for Alcaraz.

Also, on the first very hot day, the organizers schedule Sinner...
