Vacherot defeats Rinderknech and wins the Shanghai Masters 1000

This Sunday, cousins Valentin Vacherot and Arthur Rinderknech competed for the title at the Shanghai Masters 1000. Both players had to look past the significance of the event and their family ties.
The first set went in Rinderknech's favor, thanks to a break in the third game that he managed to hold onto until the end, winning the first set 6-4.
The second set was more tightly contested between the two, as neither could find a way to break the other's serve. However, it was the Monegasque who managed to break Rinderknech in the 8th game before holding his own serve to force the Frenchman into a decisive set.
Vacherot asserted his dominance in the third set with an early break and very few points lost on his serve. The Monegasque ultimately won 4-6, 6-3, 6-3 and will climb to 40th in the world rankings following the tournament.
Interviewed on the court after his victory, he said: "I don't even know what's happening right now. I'm happy with my performance over the last two weeks. I want to thank everyone. This is the breakthrough of my career.
It's our family that wins, I wish there could have been two winners, but unfortunately, that's not possible.
I tried to put aside the fact that I was playing against my cousin, it was very tough, he played well in the first set, much better than me, and I had to find a way to turn the situation around."
