Vesnina on Rublev: "He's come out of his psychological distress".

Vesnina on Rublev: He's come out of his psychological distress.

Andrey Rublev was very solid all week in Doha, a tournament he won by beating Jack Draper in the final.

The Russian is emerging from a bad patch that began towards the end of the 2024 season. After a disappointing start to the season, he could have launched his season.

In addition to his sporting results, Rublev also appears to be in a better psychological state, with fewer outbursts of anger.

Elena Vesnina had this to say about her compatriot for Championnat, the Russian media: "He's out of his psychological distress.

He's been able to overcome the difficulties of being a fighter, and he's found ways to get back into good shape.

Andrey is a great guy. A lot of people criticized him and wrote in the press that Andrey wouldn't reach his level.

But people simply don't understand that a person has problems, both physical and psychological, that need to be addressed.

That takes time. Andrey is a great guy! Even though he had a bad season, he played well.

We've seen his games, but sometimes you play well and, at the time, your opponent is slightly better than you.

I'm very happy for him, and I congratulate him and Mirra on such fine victories. Saturday was the best day for Russian tennis in a long time."

Hopefully he's finally decided to once and for all get out of his way. Always enjoy watching Rublev compete when he's at the top of his game.
