Video - Bublik, Goffin, Norrie: the biggest surprises on the ATP circuit in 2025
Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner have dominated the circuit head and shoulders this season. Throughout the year, they left only crumbs for their opponents, with a few exceptions.
Moreover, top 10 players have sometimes stumbled unexpectedly in certain matches. Tennis TV decided to compile the most surprising results on the ATP circuit in 2025 (see video below).
Bublik's feat against Sinner, Norrie and Goffin surprise Alcaraz
Jannik Sinner was only beaten by three players this year: Alcaraz, Griekspoor (due to retirement) and Bublik, who delivered one of the best performances of his career to defeat the Italian in the Halle quarterfinals.
As for Alcaraz, despite a season marked by eight titles, he could not avoid a few surprising defeats, such as those against Goffin in Miami or against Norrie in Paris, a match in which he committed 54 unforced errors.
Other players are also involved in surprising defeats: Novak Djokovic, Alexander Zverev, Taylor Fritz, and Holger Rune. Terence Atmane, who defeated Fritz in the Cincinnati quarterfinals and went on to become a semifinalist in the tournament, managed to find the resources to overcome the current world number 6.
The biggest surprises of the ATP season:
- Bublik beats Sinner 3-6, 6-3, 6-4 (Halle R2);
- Norrie beats Alcaraz 4-6, 6-3, 6-4 (Paris R2);
- Mensik beats Djokovic 7-6, 7-6 (Miami Final);
- Atmane beats Fritz 3-6, 7-5, 6-3 (Cincinnati QF);
