Video - Rune's winning return after a true missile from Mpetshi Perricard

Just like Fritz at Wimbledon, Holger Rune managed to control the power of French player Mpetshi Perricard during the round of 16 at the Shanghai Masters 1000.

Facing an opponent capable of serving nearly 230 km/h, Holger Rune showed solid performance to win his match (6-4, 6-7, 6-3). This marked his second victory this year against the 22-year-old player, following their encounter in Toronto last July (7-6, 6-3). It was also his second win against a French player in this 2025 edition of the Chinese tournament (after Humbert in the third round).

Although he was familiar with Mpetshi Perricard, Rune knew he had to rely on his return quality to overcome him. And that's exactly what happened: thanks to good ball control, he managed twice to win his opponent's service game in this match.

To give you an idea, here's a powerful serve from the French player beautifully returned by the Dane below.
