The final of the 2024 ATP 500 in Tokyo was an all-French affair between Arthur Fils and Ugo Humbert. The two players engaged in a thrilling battle, with Fils ultimately prevailing in a suspenseful match 5-7, 7-6, 6-3.
However, Fils was in a tough spot against his opponent during the second-set tiebreak. Indeed, the Frenchman faced a match point on Humbert's serve.
It was the Metz native who had the advantage at that moment, but Fils managed to escape thanks to a magnificent backhand passing shot to save the match point and eventually claim the set and the match.
Unfortunately for him, Fils is still injured and will not be able to defend his title in Tokyo. As for Humbert, he is indeed present and aiming to perform just as well as last year.
