Wimbledon: Fritz and Mpetshi Perricard Interrupted at Two Sets All, Zverev and Rinderknech to Also Continue Tomorrow

The wild first day of Wimbledon 2025 couldn’t be completed. Indeed, two men’s singles matches will continue on Tuesday due to the curfew imposed by the London Grand Slam, which requires matches on the two main courts to stop at 11 p.m. local time.
Taylor Fritz and Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard, initially scheduled on Court No. 2, saw their duel moved to Court No. 1. The Frenchman won the first two sets in tie-breaks, but Fritz, with his back against the wall, fought back in the best possible way to level at two sets apiece (7-6, 7-6, 4-6, 6-7).
With still 40 minutes left before the curfew, the organizers decided to suspend the match, much to Fritz’s frustration: "We have more time than the longest set we’ve played. Why ask for our opinion if the decision is already made?"
On Centre Court, Alexander Zverev and Arthur Rinderknech began their match in the early evening. A scheduling delay was partly due to the duel between Carlos Alcaraz and Fabio Fognini, which lasted over four hours.
Rinderknech, a quarterfinalist at Queen’s two weeks ago and accompanied by Lucas Pouille during this Wimbledon, delivered high-quality tennis to take the first set in a tie-break. Later, he had two set points in the second set during another tie-break. But Zverev stayed solid to level at one set all, just minutes before the curfew.
Both matches will continue in the second rotation on Centre Court and Court No. 1.
