Zverev full of praise for Alcaraz: "Someone who is already a legend in our sport".
During a press conference with the other members of Team Europe, Alexander Zverev was asked how he felt about playing the Laver Cup on home soil.
Very happy, he said he was ready for battle and, in particular, talked about being in the same team as Carlos Alcaraz, with whom he will be playing doubles this Friday.
Highly complimentary, the world number 2 declared, not without a little jibe: "Don't listen to what I'm going to say, because you're like 12 years old and I shouldn't say so many nice things about you.
But, yes, it's a privilege to share the court with someone who's already a legend in our sport.
From now on, you're only going to get bigger.
I've had the privilege of playing doubles with Roger Federer on several occasions here, which was very special.
Sharing the court with Carlos is also very special for me.
We've had some tough Grand Slam battles this year, in Australia (Zverev's win in the quarter-finals) and at Roland-Garros (Alcaraz's win in the final), so to be part of the same team is incredible."
