Zverev in the Paris-Bercy final again, 4 years later!
Alexander Zverev has just qualified for the final of the Rolex Paris Masters. He showed great mental strength to overcome Holger Rune in less than two hours (6-3, 7-6[4]). He will face the winner of the second semi-final between Ugo Humbert and Karen Khachanov for the title.
More consistent than his opponent and very solid on his serve, Zverev initially dominated the proceedings and looked set for an easy victory. But Rune raised his game and broke just as the world number 3 was serving to close out the match.
The German didn't panic, however, and immediately regained his composure, adapting his tactics slightly to regain the upper hand in the tie-break.
Zverev will be contesting the tournament final for the second time in his career. In 2020, he lost to Daniil Medvedev despite having dominated the match for the first hour and a half. No doubt he won't want to let his chance slip away this time.
