Gauff is simply another gifted player who can't play near or at her highest level on a regular basis. And, even after all this time, hasn't learned how to figure out when she didn't bring her A game and then mentally work herself into her A or A+ game. I doubt making politically/socially charged comments in the middle of major helps in any way. Maybe it gets her all riled up inside and that motivates her? But does it affect her consistency?

Ideally all sports should be made as fair as possible for the spirit of competition. No one likes watching Alcaraz or Sinner, two who won the genetic lotto relative to competitors by an order of magnitude, easily send so-called competition back to the locker room. Where this creates an unfair advantage is these players get these devices for free for the advertisement value while much lower players, who might already be struggling with money, have to pay for it. Or forgo it and suffer from not having the advantages it potentially brings.
