I hate to say it, but looking at the players remaining I almost wonder if the organizers are trying to give an edge to an American player in the final.

What a battle? A bit disingenuous. The first set was competitive. Alcaraz physically diminished in the next two which caused Shelton to mentally leave the match and lose 6-1. So 3 no-competitive sets followed by one more competitive set. Might as well been a 3 set match.

It's bad enough Alcaraz couldn't handle the conditions and was physically ill. I was pretty sure Shelton would be gifted this match after that, but Alcaraz recovered, but not enough to win in the middle of the night. Basically only two good sets, the first and last.
