Serena needed time off to rest her body, as she is not used to playing back-to-back matches, at least not for a while. I’m sure she’s simply trying to get back into the rhythm of things, although she is pushing it a bit. It appears that getting back in top shape has been somewhat of a stubborn challenge.

Serena said her back spasms started in the semi finals in toronto.
She said she could barely sleep the night before the final.
