Damn Roger has the hardest draw by far! Gael who is on fire. Dominic who is the best player on clay rn then Djokovic who will ironically be the easiest match probably
Of course everyone has learned since long that you punch Roger's backhand till he tires... But remember Roger's got a new style, much more aggressive so it's not the same Roger on the clay now as when he was punished by Rafa. All in all, I'm already so thankful for having the chance to see him on the clay again, each win is basically just a bonus.
The draw looks quiet tough on Roger specially but can't help it on the other side nadals draw looks pretty simple till finals. But I think tough draws many times help you and make you mentaly prepared. Roger your first match was very impressive and if you play attacking like the way you did I think you will do great on clay.
If he can beat Gasquet (who I believe hadn’t played a competitive match in a while, not to mention out of his prime), and Monfils (hit or miss) he can beat three of the best clay players currently on tour?
These are the classic matches that have been lost in the last few years. Last time I saw a match I can consider classic was probably Rafa and Novak at Wimbledon last year. Or maybe Thiem and Rafa at US
It's interesting that half of the 12 meetings between Federer and Monflis that TT lists in the H2H have taken place on clay. Whereof four were in RG! I would definitely not take a Federer victory for granted here. Monflis has done many very fine performances against Roger and has four wins in 13 meetings. And I do remember Monflis win in MC a couple of years ago, a master class performance by the Frenchman. With this said I think Roger will win in two if he can bring the same attitude as he had against Gasquet.
We go the distance
Fed plays three sets - it ll still not take 1.5 hrs
It's about strategy and winning a match. Lol
.. hail justin
Gael is in very good form lately
If Roger can beat Gael here he is certainly back to winning ways on clay also
