Nonsense? A player with a weak return of serve breaking her and taking a set? Nothing against McHale, but she has nothing in her game that should have hurt Serena

Dawson Wilson
Pretty tough but you got through it! She needed a match like this! Good job Queen!

Dan Beynon
Really Justin? I just can't see anyone touching her, just a different league. I'd love Halep to shine but 9/10 times Serena's going to win even not playing at her best
5
Dawson Wilson
Shame that I'll be in Spring Valley tonight..oh well go Serena!

papasung2
Only a fool would give up on her

pam260164
Know it all and better i guess. Uhhh .....you think.
4
sleepypasta
She plays too many three setters, but at least she wins them!

ryanphoenixcarlile
Good stuff Serena, tough matches will help more than cruising through. Match at a time :-)

papasung2
Dan.Mendez you need to open yours she's not God only a novice to sports would expect the great ones would win in style and fashion every time out. Jordan, gretzski,Bonds,Brady, messi and renaldo did not win in style all the time. They know what they need to do that's why they are the greatest at what they do and did. Serena Williams is no different

ryanphoenixcarlile
Utter rubbish Dan and Pam!!

As I said earlier Serena isn't a robot and can't be expected to win every point because she is the best and to not have ups and downs. An yes only a fool would think so and lose faith in Serena!!

Derek Liu
Serena loses when she loses confidence in her serve

ryanphoenixcarlile
2013 was tough on the body, she played a lot of tennis. 3 Slams last year excellent, it's just a loss of focus and motivation which will return. We always expect Serena to win every match and when she doesn't and loses a couple, some people go overboard with is this the decline starting or is something wrong!!

Nothing to worry about, she'll find her groove again and be wary the players she lost to as she'll be out for revenge.
3
Derek Liu
But I hope she ties and passes Steffi

vscholz66
C'mon Rena!! You can do this!!
3
vscholz66
I think maybe she was going easy on a fellow American. ^_^
3
Derek Liu
I mean clearly, Serena is a better player but she doesn't always play like it
3
Dawson Wilson
Lol Sleepy she realizes she can't kill em all
3
vscholz66
No brainer Serena! C'mon!!
2
Dan Beynon
I don't think either deserve to be paid. [Joke!]
2
Derek Liu
That's when she's easy to break because she doubles more frequently
2
ryanphoenixcarlile
Losing to Roberta says it all. It was a complete loss of focus and then got rattled and just her mind wasn't there. Every other time she's crushed that little shrieker.
2
Derek Liu
It starts and ends with her serve
2
ryanphoenixcarlile
Serenas B game is good enough to beat any player if they're not playing there best.

It's no disrespect to any player but Serena is just in another league and so true that it's only her that beats herself on court.

She's human though and unrealistic of anyone to think she is some robot who must win every match because she is the best and number 1.
2
Derek Liu
I think players are just waiting for when Serena retires
2
Justin Loch
This is crazy. Serena wake up
2
addisohn
Never catching up. More so, shes having longer dips in her game making her more vulnerable. Basically it's her beating herself not the person across the net, most of the time.
2
papasung2
Justin time for you to go watch another sport. All this time and you still talking like that. Same with rafa every time there's any form of adversity you get down and negative. Stop acting like you just start watching tennis
2
addisohn
Now close it out Serena!
2
dan.mendez1991
She either needs to improve her game that apparently she's unable to or she will most probably never win another grand slam
2
Derek Liu
I can't really say Serena won this match. She definitely has more questions than answers right now
