In addition to being husband and wife, Gaël Monfils and Elina Svitolina share an intriguing tennis statistic. As revealed by the X account Jeu, Set et Maths, the Ukrainian, by defeating Mirra Andreeva this Sunday at the Australian Open, has secured her 112th Grand Slam victory—all without ever reaching a final.

130 Grand Slam Victories for Monfils

She is the player with the most Grand Slam victories without advancing to a final. On the men's side, the record holder is none other than Monfils, her husband. With 130 victories, the Frenchman has never reached a Grand Slam final.

Interesting statistic. I guess it is a nod to the players consistency at the level they can play at and/or their longevity in the sport. More interesting because the man and woman who achieved it or married.

As much as I love watching Alcaraz at his best, I'd love to see Alex taking this, he's such a tryer, and getting married and his humour and humility...

Favoritism?

Last year: Sinner seed 1, the organizers schedule Alcaraz on day 1, Sinner on day 2.

This year: Alcaraz seed 1, the organizers schedule Alcaraz on day 1, Sinner on day 3.

That means: 7 matches in 15 days for Alcaraz, 7 in 13 days for Sinner; and no rest day for Sinner between quarter and semis, 1 full day rest for Alcaraz.
