Swiatek Compares Ostapenko and Sabalenka: One of Them Plays Much More Riskily

Defeated by Ostapenko (6-3, 3-6, 6-2), Swiatek exited the Stuttgart tournament in the quarterfinals. The Polish player performed worse than last year when she reached the semifinals (losing to Rybakina 6-3, 4-6, 6-3).

The world number two also continues her curse against the Riga (Latvia) native. Swiatek has now lost all six of their head-to-head matches.

The Tennis Gazette shared the 23-year-old's comments, where she compared this matchup to her clashes with Sabalenka:

"I mean, there are a lot of differences. Aryna plays a bit more logically, and she uses spin, so it’s not like she loses control. Jelena plays much more riskily and with less spin, so yes, there are many differences."

Currently in Madrid, the four-time Roland-Garros champion has a bye and will face the winner of the match between Pavlyuchenkova and Sevastova.
