Nick Kyrgios on his Wimbledon final: "If I had played Rafa, I would have done better"
It's well known that Nick Kyrgios never minces his words. While he has become an intermittent tennis player since his wrist injury, the Australian loves to revisit his past exploits, particularly the 2022 Wimbledon final he lost to Novak Djokovic.
"If I had played Rafa, I would have done better"
Gathered with Alexander Bublik and Patrick Mouratoglou as part of UTS, Kyrgios discussed Djokovic's level in that final and mentioned that he would have had a better chance if a certain Rafael Nadal had been on the other side of the net:
"I don't think I could have done better. I was solid overall. I just played a bad tie-break in the fourth set. He also broke me when I was 40-0 up on my serve in the third, that's just unthinkable.
If I had played someone like Rafa in the final, I would have done better. But Novak is different, he was in his thirtieth final, something like that, whereas it was my first. He's so strong."
