Aryna Sabalenka has reportedly decided to play in Miami, despite the death on Monday of her boyfriend Konstantin Koltsov. The Byelorussian trained on the Florida courts on Tuesday, probably preferring not to let go of her life completely in the face of the tragedy she is going through.

It's probably not a decision that's been made once and for all, as emotions can change dramatically at times like these, when people lose their bearings so violently. The grieving process is a complex one, and all Sabalenka needs is kindness and non-judgment in her handling of it.

I propose the following changes to the rules:

1...a walķover will not be a loss. We have no control of player's health. If he or she is entered in a contest we expect them to play.

2...an incomplete match is not a loss. If a player forfeits we pick another match if there are more to choose.

3...this also applies if TT cancels a match. TT will not take hours to decide an outcome.
