Coco Gauff did not last long in this 2026 Doha tournament.

Facing Italian Elisabetta Cocciaretto (ranked 57th), the American struggled to make an impact and fell in two sets (6-4, 6-2).

Uninspired, she created only five break points, converting just one.

These performances are becoming regular for the world No. 5, who has now lost in the first round in the last two editions as well.

An Impressive Performance from Cocciaretto

On her side, Cocciaretto, a lucky loser, had a record of 0-3 against Gauff before this match.

And in her first main draw appearance in this tournament, she secures a win over a world top 5 player (her 3rd victory against a Top 10).

The last time she defeated a player of this caliber was against Pegula at Wimbledon last year.

For a spot in the quarterfinals, she will face American Ann Li (ranked 41st).

Despite top-10 ATP rankings and consistent excellence, Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, Gaël Monfils, Richard Gasquet, and Gilles Simon never claimed a Grand Slam title, enduring mockery from French media amid Big 3 dominance. A deep dive into a talented generation defined by sky-high expectations and brutal competition.

Carlos Alcaraz has the New younger person to win the Australian Open and I hope he will regain French open 2026 also. As per my Guess he will be the best player to achieve the 20 Grand Slams in Younger age Only. I hope all the best to Carlos.

As much as I love watching Alcaraz at his best, I'd love to see Alex taking this, he's such a tryer, and getting married and his humour and humility...
