ATP Finals 2020: The Day Thiem and Rublev Tortured Every Ball!

Dominic Thiem and Andrey Rublev delivered spectacular rallies during their group stage match at the 2020 ATP Finals.

From the very first minutes, the two players tortured the ball, unleashing a barrage of powerful shots and breathtaking exchanges. The result: 42 winners in total. Not including serves (24 aces).

But Rublev, known for his resilience and power, solidly repelled every attack from Thiem. Finding no solution, the Austrian only managed to create a single break point throughout the entire match (1/1).

Finally, despite a tightly contested second set (7-5), Thiem surrendered after 1 hour and 13 minutes of play. A match that saved Rublev's tournament, who was coming off two consecutive losses against Nadal (6-3, 6-4) and Tsitsipas (6-1, 4-6, 7-6).

On his side, the Austrian was already qualified for the semi-finals and had been reaching impressive finals up to that point. After winning his blockbuster match against Djokovic in a historic three-setter (7-5, 6-7, 7-6), he was defeated in the final by Medvedev (4-6, 7-6, 6-4).
