The Battle for 8th Place in the Race Comes Down to Less Than 50 Points for the Second Consecutive Year
We had to wait until the final week of the ATP calendar with the tournaments in Metz and Athens to learn the identity of the 8th person in the Race, synonymous with the final spot for the ATP Finals.
While Lorenzo Musetti needed to win the title in the Greek capital to qualify, the Italian fell short in the final, meaning Felix Auger-Aliassime qualified in his place, thanks to a margin of just 45 points.
A minimal gap, yet larger than last year's between 8th and 9th in the rankings: Andrey Rublev had snatched the 8th place in 2024 by just 15 points ahead of Alex de Minaur.
However, thanks to Novak Djokovic's withdrawal from the 2024 and 2025 editions of the ATP Finals, this 9th place in the Race standings still guaranteed a spot in Turin.
